Staying Connected with Level Up Weeks

Level UP

March 12, 2026

Six years have passed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 6.5 percent of workers in the private business sector worked primarily remotely in 2019. The pandemic caused remote work to increase dramatically across all major industries. But now things are changing. Amazon, Apple, Google, JPMorgan Chase, and Meta have all returned to the office for five days a week. However, many employees prefer some flexibility. Remote work is evolving into new forms like hybrid and structured flexibility.

In 2023 LexisNexis® Intellectual Property explored hybrid options and introduced Level Up Weeks beginning in January 2024.

What are Level Up Weeks?

Level Up Weeks are designated times throughout the year when employees come together in eleven LexisNexis offices globally to collaborate, build connections, and work on projects that are best done face-to-face. These weeks are all about:

  • Strengthening our community and teamwork
  • Sparking creativity and innovation
  • Enhancing collaboration for projects that benefit from in-person interaction
  • Growing together as a team and a company

How are Level Up Weeks implemented?

In 2024 employees went into the office for three consecutive days for ten weeks of that year. Employee response was positive, however, feedback provided told us that three consecutive days were too many. For 2025 we reduced the number of consecutive days in the office to two, and increased the time to 23 weeks, spaced out at roughly twice per month. That means that employees spent 46 days in the office and work remotely for more than 80% of total workdays. For 2026 we are staying close to our 2025 calendar and Level Up Weeks will happen every other week, with two consecutive in office days. It is an expectation that all local-based employees within daily commuting distance to our offices will be in the office during Level Up days.

The company provides a complimentary lunch once a week during Level Up weeks.

Employee feedback is positive for in-person connection and team bonding, the well-planned activities, local leadership and event coordination, and the value of cross-functional Interaction. Around three-quarters of survey respondents said they have stronger connections with colleagues because of Level Up Weeks.

Commitment

LexisNexis® Intellectual Property is dedicated to making Level Up Weeks meaningful for everyone. We host community events like Town Halls, organize brainstorming and working sessions, and facilitate learning opportunities. Also, teams are encouraged to coordinate in-person activities, such as one-on-one meetings with team members, peers, and leaders to discuss topics like performance reviews, setting objectives, and peer mentoring. We offer fun social events to help employees unwind and connect with colleagues.

Level Up Weeks are our way of embracing the flexibility of remote work while also recognizing the invaluable benefits of face-to-face interaction. They are designated times when teams come into the office globally for in-person collaboration. They are meant to build community, spark creativity, complete work that is inherently better done in person, and build the camaraderie that will make LexisNexis not just a workplace but also a place where we grow together.
