From June 3 to June 5, the picturesque city of Wiesbaden, Germany became the meeting point for global leaders in innovation, and IP analytics from across Europe, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and the United States.
The 2025 LexisNexis PatentSight+ Summit gathered IP professionals, strategists, data scientists, IP consultants, and policymakers for three days of visionary discussion, real-world case studies, and advanced analytics training under the theme “Bringing IP to the Boardroom.”
The Summit officially began on the evening of June 3rd with a relaxed pre-evening reception in Wiesbaden’s historic center. In the charming setting, participants reconnected with colleagues and met new faces. They kicked off the experience with great food, fine wines, and lively conversations.
This year’s summit again took place at the stunning Henkell Freixenet headquarters. Also known as Schloss Henkell, it is a historic wine estate. Vanessa Lehmann, Head of Communications at Henkell Freixenet, warmly welcomed LexisNexis and all participants to the venue—setting a tone of sophistication and openness that resonated throughout the event.
Christian Nilsson, VP and Managing Director at LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions, opened the 2025 LexisNexis PatentSight+ with a broad strategic view of how IP, AI, and global shifts are converging. He framed IP as a board-level asset essential for innovation resilience and competitive growth.
Dr. Stephan Wolke and Stefan Ising delivered a comprehensive deep dive into how thyssenkrupp integrates AI both as a subject of protection and a tool for IP management. Their dual-framework—“AI for IP” and “IP for AI”—illustrated practical use cases. Including AI-assisted invention disclosure, infringement detection, semantic patent landscape clustering using PatentSBERTa., applying TRIZ methodology through ChatGPT to extend patent protection, and even patent drawing generation.
Dr. Carolin Vietz detailed how BASF’s IP Intelligence team uses a mix of GenAI, ontologies, and human-led consultancy to support strategic decision-making. From automated classification leading to immense time savings, vector-based semantic searches complemented by domain-expert prompting dashboards, and Visual storytelling through dashboards tailored for R&D or senior executives, her presentation emphasized that consultancy amplifies the value of AI, not replaces it.
Following Session 2, LexisNexis® Intellectual Property Solutions offered a preview of their new AI capabilities. The new features leverage large language models to simplify complex patent data interpretation. Many attendees took the opportunity to test the prototype firsthand—alongside other established IP tools—at the on-site demo station, which remained a popular hub throughout the event.
Dr. Monika Bruckmann focused on the evolving role of information professionals as strategic consultants. Her session was a call to action for patent analysts to move beyond data delivery into proactive collaboration, shaping project direction across departments. In her speech, she went deeper into the importance of client education (e.g., FTO vs. IP screening), building trust through storytelling, not just statistics, and how the Patent Documentation Group (PDG) is fostering a new vision for consultancy in patent information.
Daniel Uhl presented a bold transformation roadmap for Business IPR Management (BIM) at Deutsche Telekom. Anchored by the vision to become “the voice of the inventors,” Uhl detailed how BIM evolved from a service provider into a consultancy powerhouse. It drives idea creation via Ideation Labs and scaling innovation through a full-fledged 6-month “Patentathon” innovation program supported by the CTO and other executive sponsors. Also he also demonstrated how the IP team at Deutsche Telekom consistently delivers IP insights to employees across various functions and hierarchies, making IP an ongoing topic and promoting a consultative approach.
Dr. Karin Walczyk delivered a consultancy-forward perspective on innovation analytics. She shared how Accenture blends patent metrics, AI-powered clustering, and market signals to benchmark innovation performance, identify white spaces, and guide R&D investment. Highlights included trend visualizations in GenAI, sustainability, and organic electronics across the chemical sector.
Chris Harrison from WIPO showcased how IP analytics can influence national policy, sustainability goals, and industrial strategy worldwide. Through case studies from Sri Lanka, Singapore, and beyond, he showed how WIPO supports patent offices and academic and research institutions in developing countries. And how patent insights can shape economic development. “Insight should never be a luxury. It should be a tool for everyone, everywhere.” Additionally, he gave an overview of WIPO’s offering of workshops and seminars to upskill IP knowledge. Including the vast range of technology reports containing valuable information not just for policymakers but also for corporate IP managers.
Wrapping up Day 1 of the 2025 LexisNexis PatentSight+ Summit, Dr. Christopher Hauke brought a practical and organizational lens to the conversation. Emphasizing the need for IP awareness across departments, Hauke advocated for seamless integration of IP thinking into strategy, development, and sales. His three pillars—IP awareness, process integration, and organizational structure—framed a call to make IP everyone’s business.
The first day of the summit concluded in true Wiesbaden style. The participants were invited to join a guided tour through the production halls and visit the historic Henkell wine cellar. The mix of great company and sparkling Sekt gave participants a chance to celebrate, reflect, and look forward.
The evening was rounded off by a shared dinner at Schloss Henkell. It offered a perfect setting for in-depth exchanges among participants. Also, there was particularly strong interest in discussing IP-related topics with peers from different regions of the world, highlighting the truly international spirit of the Summit.
Day 2 of the 2025 LexisNexis PatentSight+ Summit was dedicated to hands-on learning and practical application through a series of focused breakout sessions. Participants explored how to merge PatentSight+ data with external sources, Including techniques for importing, exporting, and integrating data into tools like Power BI for enhanced reporting. Another session centered on competitive intelligence, equipping attendees to detect emerging competitors and monitor IP activity over time. Sessions on metrics and advanced visualizations offered guidance on crafting insightful analytics. Fast, responsive storytelling showed how to translate patent data into compelling narratives. One of the most popular topics was the synergy between PatentSight+ and ChatGPT. It demonstrated how generative AI can support and accelerate IP analysis. Throughout the day, the LexisNexis Solution Clinic remained open. In the clinic provided practical, one-on-one guidance on maximizing value from PatentSight+ and the broader LexisNexis IP ecosystem.
As we carry forward the lessons from the 2025 LexisNexis PatentSight+, one thing is clear: IP is no longer a siloed topic. It’s a strategic dialogue that belongs at the heart of executive decision-making. Beyond the insights, tools, and technologies presented, the Summit underscored something even more profound: LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions is not just a provider of data and software—it is a true enabler of global exchange, a connector across industries and borders, and a trusted thought leader advancing IP awareness worldwide.
